Overall Satisfaction with Appian

Appian Support is generally very reactive and knowledgeable, but occasionally it can take longer than expected to troubleshoot an issue or find a solution.
Appian as a BPM platform is being used to simplify, optimize, and automate business processes in the R&D organization. Solutions developed on the Appian platform for the Clinical business unit are used to bridge the gap between foundation systems and improve compliance and data quality. They also improve collaboration between Business and Business and Business and IT organization.
  • Low code platform - easy to develop and quick to deploy.
  • Easy to integrate with other systems using APIs.
  • Cross-browser and mobile compatibility.
  • Need to incorporate some commonly used plugins into its product to provide proper support and Appian version compatibility.
  • Missing the ability to customize its date/calendar display for international users.
  • Need to expand its graphics/icon library.
  • Business sees cost and time savings with process simplification and automation.
  • Shorter solution delivery cycles = lower development cost.
  • As more and more business users are seeing the benefits of Appian, requests are pouring in and it takes time to review them.

Pega licensing cost was high and the learning curve was much higher.

Appian works very well as a platform for BPM solutions.

It's not the best tool if user expects extensive UI interactions such as drag and drop.
