Overall Satisfaction with Avalara

Avalara is in use by our accounting department. Our sales tax liability expanded to many states in 2015 and we purchased Avalara in place of needing to hire an employee specific to sales tax. The product paid for itself, and didn't require much hand holding on our side. A lot of problems were prevented by implementing Avalara.

It was pretty straightforward, as we were already following a manual process of preparing returns.

There was an integration offered for a cost, but we didn't think it was worth it, so we just manually entered in our tax liabilities as calculated by NetSuite

We use Avalara to file our sales tax returns, and have benefited in the ways previously mentioned
We were recommended Avalara by our CPA, and didn't really explore any other options.
If you only need to file in one state, Avalara would be overkill. The benefit starts kicking in when you are having to file multiple tax returns and then the laws have minor nuances that would require more than a general knowledge of sales tax.
