Overall Satisfaction with Avalara
We use it for our retail sales across the country and the proper calculation of that sales tax. We also use the Exemption Certificate Mgmt for the entities which claim tax exemption status. Lastly, we use it for 1099 purposes.
Pros
- Calculates proper sales tax amounts on invoices within NetSuite
- Helps us manage our w9s for 1099 purposes
- Calculates proper sales tax amounts on invoices within Shopify
Cons
- Speed of assessing Exembption certificates validity
- Connectivity of ECM with NetSuite and notification of approval without having to go into a separate system.
- Speed of answering tickets
- Ease of answering tax exempt questions without having to add Avi bot subscription
- Positive - kept us from being sales tax audited
- Negative - some systems like ECM and 1099 are clunky

First two were not difficult. Last one is ongoing difficult.
We use tax calculation, exemption certificate management and 1099. Very good, poor, and just ok.
