Overall Satisfaction with Avalara AvaTax

We are a small start up probiotic skincare company selling online to customers in our home state and across the nation. Being small means that one must use one's Human Resources very wisely because being small does not mean that your company does not face many of the same complex issues that a larger company may have. We found that calculating and keeping current on sales tax in a state with 159 counties, plus special tax zones and state taxes to be a daunting and time consuming task. Avalara liberated us! It was easy to set up, easy API and great support. Then the ease of reviewing and approving the reports with one line dashboard was fantastic. Email reminders let you know when the taxes are ready to be reviewed and an adequate amount of time is provided for your review. Then click, our taxes are filed, timely and accurately with the state through its web portal. It was a wonder!

  • Avalara's support staff is very knowledgeable and helpful.
  • I loved the recent free seminar which exposed us to a choice of break out classes especially since we are receiving interest in the EU.
  • The software and dashboard are intuitive and easy to use.
  • I really don't have any problems. Maybe later when we are bigger I will find something to complain about.

  • Although we always check our collections against the AvaTax reports - it was never AvaTax that failed.
Very easy - total time to implement was maybe 30 minutes for us . The setup process walked you through the questions which were logical and easy to understand. You do provide a power of attorney and access to a checking account so the tax funds will be withdrawn automatically.

I set up the system myself, worked with it for the first few months, and then handed it off, so I know personally that it was easy to use.

We find AvaTax super useful for our retail business and have full confidence that they will alert us if the laws change especially in regard to online businesses. We learned at the seminar that many states are attempting to collect taxes from online sales in very creative ways, knowing that it will be easier for companies to collect and pay the taxes rather than fight for the exemptions.
