Overall Satisfaction with AVI-SPL

I work with AVI-SPL in many different ways. Sales, service, maintenance, and new projects. I just learned AVI-SPL is a big company all over the world. They always pushing above and beyond their services. Today, I know They work hard to provide products that are limited due to COVID. But in the end, AVI-SPL is always there and provides service when I need them.
  • Sale dept when I don't need service but buy products. They always ship any products such as Extron. I get them fast and easy.
  • Service call, when something is broken, they schedule fast within 5 days. Minimum downtime in the university classroom.
  • Communication, They always response my email and phone call.
  • For any new projects, I know it is a tough job for them to develop the scope of work or quotes for any new projects. An estimator from AVI-SPL needs to work closely with the engineer/others to help to develop the project plan.
  • When comes to new projects plan, AVI-SPL is weak in this field due to a lack of teamwork. They should be ready to answer my questions instead of waiting for someone in the engineering dept or sales dept to get an answer a week later or sometime a few weeks later. AVI-SPL Project leader should work closely with team members.
  • I have no negative in return//ROI. I always appreciation their hard work in Sales dept.
  • I can't blame AVI-SPL for the low supplies due to COVID but I know they are doing their best and gave me an honest answer for shipping time. Every week, they keep checking with their mfg for delivery date.
I use the help desk for service calls a few times. I don't like the look of the website (Help Desk), they are hard to read or try to figure out what they try to tell me. Need to be more friendly and easy to read like the ServiceNow app. When I got comments or any updates, their help desk send separate notes. I prefer to keep it all in one place and easy to find past history.
AVI-SPL helped to get the products that I need for Hyflex/hybrid. Also, they provided info on how fully remote works. Believe it or not. I learned that from YouTube posted by AVI-SPL "

AVISPLinfo". I wished they can do more of that. This will be nice if they can set up in different categories such as education, business, etc.

Sales dept, I always put down 10, They never fail me. I always get them fast. When any products missing or break or stop working. They contact direct to mfg fast and got them repaired or replaced. That is A+ and saved my time. Maintenance and service, they always on time and very professional. Most of the time, they got the jobs done on the same day. Important that I provided info and any problem that I can think of so AVI-SPL can send the right person for this job. Why number 8 on a scale? New projects that AVI-SPL is weak in this field and needs to improve.


Design, build and run University classrooms, meeting rooms, auditorium, ballroom, hotel, and conference rooms.
4 - There are 4 people in Media Team (A/V support) at our University. The media team is able to do simple troubleshooting, small repairs, etc. If not possible to repair or make it work by the media team, then I make a service call to SPL-AVI for their support.

  • All classroom with AV equipment must working in order all the time.
  • I have always try to find anything that are powerful and simple technology to use for classroom, etc.
  • End of life equipment.
  • Last minutes swap out for several reason such as SHURE wireless mic frequency
  • Always on going to use SPL-AVI due to Technologies change so much.
SPL-AVI need to work on Project team to delivery better scope of work.

Evaluating AVI-SPL and Competitors

Yes - I prefer to stay with Extron system rather than Creston.

  • Prior Experience with the Product
SPL-AVI have special price for non-profit such as Higher Ed. This is important for us to keep in reasonable price.
Like I said before... better project planning and on-time. instead of waiting 3-6 weeks for scope of work.

Some - we have done small customizations to the interface - No easy at first.. we are learning and getting better down the road
Some - we have added small pieces of custom code - We are allow to make some adjust better fit for us.
