We use AVI-SPL for the majority of our product purchases for projects around the VT campus. All of our purchases through AVI are in the form of box sales, as we do most of our installations in-house. We have worked with Kirk Ritari for the past 3 years and could not be happier. He provides the most prompt response out of our multiple vendors, so we typically go with AVI, even though we do shop our RFPs around.

We have purchased numerous amounts of systems to help complete a hybrid modality on our campus through the pandemic. We have purchased many ceiling microphones and QSC processors/ cameras to help outfit our rooms with the technology needed for our far-end participants to feel a part of the classroom from a remote.
AVI truly has the best pricing when it comes to a simple box sale. There is no match in this arena. However, we have other local AV companies who can provide better support when it comes to onsite installations. There certainly is room for improvement on the Project Management side.

Using AVI-SPL
21 - AVI provides our team with services ranging from box sales to design and installation. We do most of our installations in house so typically, we are just purchasing product and installing in house. For our larger capital construction projects, we rely on AVI's installation team to assist with all onsite tasks.
21 - Our team consists of tiered technicians to assist with all aspects of supporting AV across the university. We have tier one technicians who are our boots on the ground and first line of defense to small end user issues. Our Tier two technicians assist when issues are elevated and the products need to be logged into or updated. Finally, we have our tier 3 techs who design, program, and comission systems that AVI helps install.
