Evaluating Azure SQL Database and Competitors
- Cloud Solutions
- Scalability
- Integration with Other Systems
Cloud solutions due to being a multi national company it is important to have access to data at all times in a sustainable manner. The cloud solutions also help to solve maintainability issues and help to reduce certain overheads that are typically associated with on-prem solutions. Cloud solutions brings along an availability factor that on-prem solutions can not always deliver.
Considering subscription models and the impact it might and will have should it change. The cost that is linked to licensing and the impact on data ownership should the license/subscription model become unaffordable would be compared against the long term cost of owning and maintaining our own data centers.
