Use Cases and Deployment Scope

BambooHR is our HR single source of truth. We previously stored all of our docs in SharePoint. As we grew, this became unwieldy. In addition, we needed a place to centralise our HR-related policies, manage PTO, and manage the review process, all of which had been ad hoc before implementing BambooHR. Additionally, because of an integration with Vanta, which we use to manage our compliance programme, we are able to effectively manage HR-related compliance issues, such as managing access to our SaaS tools.

Continues to improve over time, and is now the best in class tool

Ability to manage PTO for employees regardless of location
Ability to manage the performance management process

Usability

BambooHR is generally really easy to use. As an employee/user I'd prefer to see everything that applies to me in one place rather than having to search elsewhere in BambooHR to locate, for example, policies applicable to me. I don't know whether BambooHR has the ability to notify users of changes to policies and collect acknowledgements. As an administrator I should know this. If BambooHR doesn't have this feature, it would be a real value add.

Alternatives Considered

SAP SuccessFactors, Workday Cloud Platform and Sequoia One

BambooHR provides the right functionality that cuts across the three similar products I've used.

If I'm using Sequoia as a PEO, I have to use their platform in addition to BambooHR. This is especially necessary with a non-US workforce, which Sequoia doesn't support.

BambooHR is significantly easier to use than Workday, which is too heavyweight for a smaller business.

I've only used SuccessFactors for pay admin. I know its functionality has expanded since SAP purchased the company.

Likelihood to Recommend

I've used BambooHR since 2018 for two different companies. BambooHR developers continue to improve the product over time.

The two companies I've used Bamboo with have been smaller companies (<150 employees). I don't know how BambooHR would scale for a materially larger enterprise. I suspect there is a sweet spot at which a different HRIS might be better suited.
