Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use BambooHR to help manage the individual employment profiles of each of our team members. It's a comprehensive HR tool that provides valuable augmentation to a number of our internal process, from onboarding to offboarding, and everything in between. We utilize BambooHR PTO approval and tracking, cataloging company-issued equipment, distributing and collecting confidential HR documentation, and tracking candidates for open positions and extending offer letters.

Usability

BambooHR is very intuitive and easy to use. Some of the more advanced features take some research and assistance to implement (e.g. custom PTO tracking or holiday schedules), but there is a lot of flexibility within the stock features. The navigation and over UI are well-organized and easy to follow.

Support Rating

There is a lot of good documentation on BambooHR features through their stock support library. Support agents are also typically available for more in-depth questions. Sales representatives, however, are extremely hands-off once they sell you the license. They know only enough to sell the platform, but any in-depth questions require technical support, which can prolong the response time.

BambooHR Reporting

We rarely use BambooHRs reporting functions, as we have not found use for most of their stock reports. Smaller companies are not as closely tracking turnover or headcount, for example, because those things are easy to track without reporting tools. The hiring tool is also so manual that we don't find much benefit in tracking the source of our candidates.

Alternatives Considered

Pingboard, NetSuite ERP and QuickBooks Online Advanced

BambooHR is the most comprehensive, most affordable, and most feature rich of the alternative HR tools we have tried in the past. It is the best combination of feature and price for the current size of our business, and it's ease of operation make it very manageable to consistently maintain information.

BambooHR is well suited for smaller organizations that need a comprehensive tool for organizing and executing their basis HR processes. BambooHR is extremely intuitive and easy to use, and of leveraged properly, it can be a great place to disseminate information amongst remote teams. BambooHR is affordable and scalable as your business grows, with several add-on features available to make this HR tool even more of a one-stop-shop. Add-ons can be expensive across larger teams, so it is extremely important to assess which features are priority before enrolling in the service. BambooHR has a large library of self-help documentation to enable autonomous use of the application.
