Overall Satisfaction with BigCommerce
We implement BigCommerce on behalf of our eCommerce clients that are best suited for a Saas-based solution that's scalable as they grow, BigCommerce is also beneficial for brands looking to benefit from a Wordpress integration, yet needing a more robust solution than WP Engine can provide. We've implemented various versions and levels of BigCommerce for clients depending on their needs.
- Wordpress Integration: The only non-WP Engine solution for eCommerce integration with Wordpress.
- SEO Functionality: BigCommerce features more "out-of-the-box" SEO functionality than other Saas-based platforms, like Shopify.
- Payment Flexibility: BigCommerce is flexible with merchants when it comes to payment processing, which can lead to additional savings over time for merchants.
- Custom Integrations may be necessary for certain functionalities that have not been built before.
- BigCommerce is a unique platform and doesn't have as wide of a developer base as other platforms like Magento or Shopify due to the learning curve for developers.
- The initial cost to build on BigCommerce is often higher than similar Saas-based platforms like Shopify.
- Online Store
BigCommerce works flawlessly with our clients' prioritized integrations like Shipstation, Klaviyo, Avalara, and others. Other integrations can be custom built as needed, but there is a good chance that whatever a business needs already exists within the BigCommerce app store. It's worthwhile to pay attention to the integration or app's reviews to ensure the quality of what you're installing, but most have been well-vetted by the BigCommerce community.
- Lower Cost of Ownership
- Less Time to Launch
- Lower Cost to Build The Site
BigCommerce has a lower cost to develop and maintain compared to Magento. Both have their respective plusses and minuses, so it really comes down to a merchant's preferences and what they need their site to do. If you just need out-of-the-box functionality, BigCommerce is typically more than enough for most merchants. If significant amounts of custom coding are needed, Magento may be a better bet.
