Overall Satisfaction with BigCommerce

We use BigCommerce as our primary e-commerce engine. It is being used by our Digital department and helps us grow our e-commerce business and digital footprint, and has proven to be an invaluable tool to help drive our e-commerce growth. We migrated off of Spree in 2017 and have been happy with BigCommerce ever since.
  • Easy to use CMS.
  • Intuitive design templates and files to help launch your e-commerce store.
  • Great customer support.
  • Email templates could use improvement. They require HTML skill and no testing functionality for email templates.
  • Occasional server outages.
  • Coupon functionality could be improved -- there's no easy way to create large batches of unique codes.
  • Allowed us to streamline operations and provides easy to use backend for all types of employees, from customer service reps to directors.
  • Has helped us grow our traffic significantly.
  • Has helped us grow eCommerce revenue and metrics.
BigCommerce is scalable to a degree, with the right developers on your team. If you require truly customizable e-commerce solutions, you may be better off building an enterprise level store with Magento that allows you to fully customize every element of the site. For our purposes, it has helped us scale and provides all we need from a commerce engine.
We use APIs to integrate BigCommerce into a number of our business tools: Netsuite, Klaviyo, Celigo, Zenventory, Complete Fulfilment, authorize.net, Veratad and more. It will require a good developer to fully leverage the customizable nature of BigCommerce. Without a dedicated dev team or agency, an individual user will have issues.
Shopify -- fewer marketplace integrations, but very similar set up in terms of ease of use, and much better customer service. Shopify excels at partner integrations, while BigCommerce lacks a little in that department.
Spree -- BigCommerce is far superior in every way. Spree is terrible, do not use Spree. Migrating to BigCommerce was a blessing.
BigCommerce is well suited to help all types of businesses ramp up their e-commerce presence, from start-ups to enterprise level clients. Their customer support team is always free to help guide you. If you have complex, custom business needs, BigCommerce may not be the best solution, as there are limitations within the BigCommerce framework.
