Overall Satisfaction with BigCommerce

We use BigCommerce as our primary e-commerce window to B2B and B2C clients. BigCommerce allows us to show our vast in-stock product line and also allows us to work with vendors to help them get their product (not necessary in inventory) in front of our customer base. This informs us with what we should stock and it informs our vendors on what's moving within their product line in our industry.
  • BigCommerce is a closed environment e-commerce platform. What I mean by that is that code is protected by BigCommerce. It's very difficult to make a change that would frag your site beyond repair.
  • BigCommerce has the best documentation online hands down.
  • BigCommerce has an excellent chat program with well-versed technicians to walk you through just about anything. Should your ticket get expedited to tier 2, they'll actually get back to you.
  • BigCommerce is very powerful. We can solve most of our site customization within the platform.
  • BigCommerce is an excellent e-commerce platform. The only reason I didn't rate the partner as an 8 rather than a 10 is some recent difficulty with templates. We've been in a loop for the last couple of months with the TrustSpot Install Classic--a template a BigCommerce rep recommended to us to switch over into the Google AMP program. We'll upgrade the template and our Google AMP pages start getting downgraded for poor performance. Then, under BigCommerce's direction, we moved back a version and then our customers couldn't place orders. It's been the only level of frustration we've had with the company.
  • BigCommerce has allowed us to extensively more volume than anyone ever imagined us doing online.
  • BigCommerce has allowed us to do customized sites for several clients.
  • BigCommerce has allowed us to easily show more of our inventory with less hassle.
We import and export our primary sites to build customized sites often. BigCommerce has been an excellent tool to help us get these chores done.
We've used the APIs with the usual suspects--MailChimp, Olark, UPS, Google, etc. We've also used the APIs with companies like Logical Position and RivetWorks.
We migrated from Magento. Magento is an excellent platform, but at the time, they were going to Enterprise only with the only other option for small to mid-size companies to go with an Open Source solution. At that time, I was concerned about using Open Source with our limited connections to developers. I would pick BigCommerce over Magento now all the way.
BigCommerce is an excellent e-commerce platform. If you are a small to mid-size company, implementation of an e-commerce site with BigCommerce should be a breeze. I personally have a good bit of custom web-building experience, but the team I deploy to do the day-to-day BigCommerce functions are website building novices. They have little or no problems working with the platform.
