Overall Satisfaction with Bitly

I use Bit.ly to shrink a lot of links to client websites, brands and even affiliate links like Amazon and others. Anytime you need to shorten a link, customize the link URI slug and need to keep track of outbound clicks and analytics, I use Bit.ly. It has the easiest tracking system compared to other URL shortener services.

Cons

  • Can't Go Back and Edit Old Short link Target URLs
  • Able to determine which links and products get more attention
  • Able to make easier to remember and share shortlinks for social media
  • Able to track clicks and GEO location for clicks for target sites I don't own
I prefer Bitly to TinyURL or any other URL shortening service by far. Simplicity, less known for having bogus/phishing links and higher integrity. Plus better reporting.
Bit.ly is fantastic for tracking links, clicks, geographic regions and helps show brands/clients how much click traffic they are getting without having to filter from their own Web Master tools or GA directly. It also helps make user-friendly short links for sharing on social media platforms like Instagram which don't support clickable links so you have to make very easy to remember short links.
