Overall Satisfaction with Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT

We use RENXT for our fundraising department. We use it to manage the stewardship of our donor base and also to connect with our alumni. It provides one central hub for our department to place information about our constituents for everyone to share. Probably my favorite feature is the integration with Gmail so that I can save send emails between myself and our donors as actions on the donor's records in NXT quickly from my email. I love the quick reporting and list features. We also use it for creating donation check-out webpages.

  • Still need to use database view often to change nitty gritty information.
  • Can't completely delete duplicate records in RENXT.

Never before were we able to track actions so quickly and accurately. NXT has changed that dramatically. Integration with Gmail is a huge help. Relationship information between the donors has been incredible to track. These things have increased our donor stewardship dramatically and leads to happier donors and donations. The list features have also been so easy and valuable for us. We can filter lists based on giving or personal data, wealth, etc.
  • Online Training
I wish they offered more classes, more often. It can be difficult to wait a month between options. It would also be nice for there to be a recorded video option for when you need to learn things right now and at your own pace. It took me 4 months to do most of my training. I wish they also had a better variety of time slots. There is one east coast and one west coast time slot, and an occasional 3rd, and being on the west coast, I can't do the east coast timed classes because it's during my commute hours. It leaves the west coast limited.
We used Sustain software in the past. It was a small company, and it offered no training. I did my best, but in general, it was useless for us. It was too rudimentary. So now, with Blackbaud, I feel like I have the Cadillac of fundraising systems.

The user needs to understand that RENXT is a fancy add-on to having the original Raisers Edge. You won't transition from having RE, but you can add RENXT as a tool for your team to utilize. It's web-based, so it's responsive from everywhere and incredibly user-friendly, so you can have unsavvy computer folks up and running and looking at donor information. If you are managing data, you will still live primarily in the database view of RE. If you're posting gifts, you'll still live in database RE. But for a quick phone number or data about a donor at your fingertips, RENXT is the way to go. I would consider us a small fundraising shop that has used prior fundraising software that was atrocious, so we are still so very happy with moving to Blackbaud. Bigger shops can get frustrated, but smaller ones are happier.
