Overall Satisfaction with BlackLine
BlackLine deployment across the whole organization after major merger. Used across many parts of the organization with intent to continue to expand. Primarily focused on managing a global and highly diverse close of many different ERPs and processes to a consolidated level.
Pros
- Brings centralized management to the close - visibility and consistency.
- Brings a modern and risk-based approach to reconciliations - focus on analysis and action rather than process and check-the-box tasks.
- Many other opportunities for enhanced use.
Cons
- Ongoing enhancements to interface.
- First line customer support (as with most companies) can be frustrating to navigate. After working with top-shelf people on the sales side, can be frustrating to navigate complex issues.
- Large audit savings
- Enhanced focus in the audit to risk areas (can create a little EXTRA work initially as the auditors can test a much broader base).
- Significant improvement in quality analysis from team vs. task driven box-checking.
Both are great products and I’ve used both. Successfully implemented FloQast to great success. Looking at the BlackLine approach currently due to size and complexity and my desire to build a best-in-class shop with appropriate scale and the potential for further enhancements in the future. Very little negative to say about either module. FloQast isn’t quite head-to-head with BlackLine, so it wasn’t a hard decision, but give them a few years, and we’ll see.
