Overall Satisfaction with Box

We use Box for our lab research group to share our results and code. Our systems have lab sync installed, and we make sure we're using the synced folders when saving files. This ensures that even if something goes wrong with our systems or if someone had to leave the group abruptly, nothing is lost.
  • Automatic File Sync
  • User-Friendly Web Interface
  • High availability and reliability
  • Box Sync desktop interface could be improved further.
  • New users often find it challenging to learn how to add/remove folders from sync.
  • Permission settings are also a bit difficult to understand.
  • It got pricier as the group size grew.
  • Collaboration required Google products, so it was easier to use G Suite completely.
  • For medium groups, Box was the better option.
Box was a good platform, to begin with as the team was growing, and also since we did not have much data. Box was user-friendly and had sync options that we needed. It also did not have a lot of the other options in G Suite that was not required for use at the time.
During the initial days, when we had little to no experience with Box, we were able to easily reach the support staff and understand the different options that'd improve usability, privacy, and security. There was little to no wait time associated with the calls Standard Business Support came with the "Starter Package."

Do you think Box delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Box's feature set?

Yes

Did Box live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Box go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Box again?

No

When it comes to managing files within a small group, Box seems to work very well. The options given are similar to how OneDrive and Google Drive File Streamworks. However, as the number of users grows, it seems that Drive File Stream is a bit more user-friendlier, and the pricing is also cheaper considering all the other facilities provided by G Suite.
