Overall Satisfaction with Brevo

We use Brevo to help with emailing from WordPress site and also for a standalone email newsletter that is sent twice monthly.

The first was very important. We had to substitute web host contact forms and email for a reliable solution and Brevo was inexpensive and reliable. There are even free price plans available for a low volume of transaction emails (contact forms, etc.)

Pros

  • Once configured, it simply works. Every single time.
  • There are robust analytics and tracking of individual emails even on free plans.
  • You can buy extra credits for overages instead of having to upgrade your plan.

Cons

  • Onboarding can be a bit tricky. As with most WordPress additions, different plugins will have different configurations. Don't expect to install and just click activate.
  • Online support is highly technical. Email is its own beast and even good digital may not know more than the basics.
  • The reporting is strangely not intuitive or even very end-user friendly even with the robust data being tracked.
  • Composing in their editor can sometimes sync differently. Just like a video game, it's helpful to save often despite the autosave.
  • From the website, everything simply works. You must have a solution for emailing, and Brevo has been rock solid for us.
  • Even when something doesn't work, either non-receipt or other complaints, it's relatively easy to dig in to the data and check the delivery and even whether the item was opened and what was clicked. That's important, and Brevo delivers.
  • On the outbound side, my biggest frustration is not having easy access to click reports, by click and by user.
It works. Initial troubleshooting is painful, but after that, Brevo has never had a deliverability issue for us. We recommend it to clients regardless of their hosting.
On the outbound campaign side, Brevo is pretty no-frills, but it's more than good enough if you want to be out of the Intuit ecosystem and don't want to fuss with Constant Contact's legacy vibe.

Brevo is superlative email with marketing tacked on rather than vice versa. If you don't need a lot of marketing support, they're a fine option.

Do you think Brevo delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Brevo's feature set?

Yes

Did Brevo live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Brevo go as expected?

No

Would you buy Brevo again?

Yes

I wanted to pull a publication from MailChimp and park it elsewhere. Brevo was a bit of a pain to set up, but after I invested the onboarding time, it's been a cost-effective way to produce this newsletter. I would encourage someone to build in the time with both templates and editor. After that, using Brevo is as easy as using other services.
