Overall Satisfaction with Camtasia

Currently, there are two of us that use it at Haselden. I have recommended that our IT people who do screen captures use Camtasia, but they are not currently. It provides us with an excellent screen capturing app at an affordable price. It works wonderfully.
  • Easy to screen capture.
  • UX is wonderful.
  • Editing is easy to use. I didn't need much training on how to use Camtasia.
  • Editing audio is not the best.
  • The biggest positive impact is the ease of use of Camtasia. I can edit video in less than half the time it would take on Premiere Pro.
  • There are limitations with editing audio, but that is not what Camtasia was built to do. I go to Audition when I have to do some fine tuning with the audio.
  • As the only trainer, time is important to me and Camtasia allows me to do video edits in a fraction of the time.
Captivate and Storyline does not compare when it comes to screen captures. They may have similar capabilities, but they do not always work well. Camtasia works flawlessly when it comes to screen captures. Adobe Premiere Pro is a different story. For simple edits, Camtasia is much better. If you are looking for something fancier, Premiere Pro is the way to go. However, it does have a much steeper learning curve than Camtasia.
This is great for software simulation. Recording and doing edits are easy. It takes less time to edit videos than it does using Premiere Pro. We use Camtasia almost exclusively for software simulation. Recording narration, which we do often, is another easy to use function. We use Audition when we are recording small snip-its of voice over.
