Overall Satisfaction with Camtasia
On our training team, we use Camtasia to record and produce e-learning training videos and tutorials. We are the only department currently using Camtasia, but work closely with SMEs to record trainings across other departments using Camtasia. It allows us to quickly and easily record presentations, conference calls, trainings, or meetings and convert them into training material that can be made available online and shared across the company.
- Records in-person and virtual learning experiences.
- Add visual effects and b roll to make the e-learning content more engaging.
- Audio processing is a bit limited - I often have to export the audio into Audacity for fine-tuning.
- Importing slides into Camtasia doesn't keep animations.
- Usability - Easier to learn than other video production software - this reduces employee training time and business costs.
- Efficiency - It's faster to capture learning experiences that are already happening across the business and use Camtasia to optimize them for e-learning. This often saves us from having to build full training courses from scratch.
Snagit is also made by Techsmith and is a great piece of complementary software. Camtasia is great for recording videos, Snagit is great for grabbing screenshots or short (< 30 sec) gifs. They have different use cases and work well in tandem. On why I selected Camtasia vs other video creating software in the market, our IT Team initially recommended it for our new training department. I followed up with them and did some research on my own. Based on their recommendation and my research, we selected Camtasia because it was the consensus pick for ease of use and production efficiency.
