Overall Satisfaction with Cisco AnyConnect

This was our primary method of connecting to our services during the work from home mandate in Jamaica. Prior to the pandemic, we used this to remotely connect to the office while visiting clients. Cisco AnyConnect allowed us to remotely access critical services and also allowed for two-factor authentication using duo to add another layer of security.
  • Two Factor authentication
  • Cross platform
  • Detailed error messages
  • Quick icon on mac
  • Ensured PCI compliance
Easy to use until there’s something wrong. I’ve had several error messages which don’t tell the specific issue unless you reach out to the IT administrator. This can make debugging issues a little difficult and with Duo, it can give an additional layer of complexity in debugging. The error messaging and descriptions do need work - but an overall good solution.
The organization surely benefited and allowed us to be ready to support a work from home team and also a team that could offer remote support to our clients with very little effort or changes. Coupled with Duo, it ensures that even if the device is compromised, the malicious user will not be in a position to breach the network.
As usual, you will get very good support from Cisco, but the system rarely gives issues that are due to the Cisco systems. If you have an in-house IT team certified by Cisco, then support will never be necessary. This is the power of Cisco based implementations. The administration does require some knowledge of Cisco systems but is not necessary.
Easier to set up on existing Cisco-based devices and equipment. In a Unix-based server environment, OpenVPN may be more appropriate. OpenVPN is great but offers little in the form of support unless via another third-party company. OpenVPN offers more options in terms of protocols available for use, but it can open up your systems to poor and less robust VPN protocols.

Do you think Cisco AnyConnect delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Cisco AnyConnect's feature set?

Yes

Did Cisco AnyConnect live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Cisco AnyConnect go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Cisco AnyConnect again?

Yes

If security is essential (which it should always be in any business), then Cisco offers products that just work. It ensures compliance, especially in data center settings, and allows a mechanism to connect via robust VPN protocols. Cisco AnyConnect does not allow for older VPN protocols and relies on IPSEC-based implementations. Together with Duo, it ensures a very secure VPN connection - guaranteeing that the user is an authorized party.
