Overall Satisfaction with Cisco AnyConnect

We use it for protection, and as the client to connect to our VPN, it is used company wide and we rarely have issues with it. It is a great easy and quick solution to what used to be complex. With the company Cisco as well, we have a great experience. With our old VPN client, IT often got complaints but since we switched to AnyConnect nearly all issues are gone, and the rare ones that remain are often solved with a simple reboot.

Pros

  • Easy VPN client - even for non-IT users
  • Protection without hindrance - no issues with accessing websites
  • No impact on users - after turning on the VPN you forget it's there

Cons

  • There is just a dropdown menu to select my server, and a connect button, not much more. It does what it needs to do an nothing else
  • An auto-connect feature on startup would be nice, since I always use it.
  • The icons don't follow the standard UI guidelines, the gear icon is on the bottom left, which usually it on the top left or right.
  • My department does not have access to these numbers
  • I can imagine it is a timesaver for my colleagues
  • Little is required to keep it running, lowering ops costs
Honestly works like a charm, I never have issues, i don't hear other people having issues, and I don't see tickets coming in about other people having issues. Basically set it and forget it. It's becoming difficult to write an elaborate review, since the software is so clean and simple.
As I said before, the greatest thing about it, is that the impact is nonexistent. I still have nightmares of how McAfee used to ruin my day, before we switched to Cisco AnyConnect. Also privately I have used quite some VPN services, and especially the free ones were a usability nightmare.
I've always had to fiddle with the other ones to get them working just right, but having spoken to our VPN team, the recommended settings that came along with the product when Cisco visited for the onboarding have worked just fine since day one. It might not be a totally fair comparison, but usually consumer software wins out over corporate, but not in this case.

Do you think Cisco AnyConnect delivers good value for the price?

Not sure

Are you happy with Cisco AnyConnect's feature set?

Yes

Did Cisco AnyConnect live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Cisco AnyConnect go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy Cisco AnyConnect again?

Yes

Great security should be invisible to standard users (preferably all users even), most of my colleagues don't even know it is more than just the VPN button. We even switched SSO provider from NetIQ to OKTA, and the experience remained as seamless as it was, with now even biometric options added.
