Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Meraki MX Firewalls within our organization and also provide MX firewalls to our end users. Our entire organization is protected behind MX series firewalls, from our corporate HQ to our remote satellite offices.

Pros and Cons

Great status charts and notification alerts.
Easy to use UI.

Cisco Meraki licensing costs tend to be high compared to competitors.
Once your licensing expires the hardware is useless.

Return on Investment

ROI has been great since our IT staff has been freed up to focus on other tasks.
Easy management and deployment are the key business objectives that have been met.

SonicWall TZ

Remote management was difficult to set-up and standardize.

Support Rating

I would have given a 10 but once your licensing runs out the hardware is useless. I wish they had an option to load open-source firmware on the devices.

Meraki MX Firewalls are great for medium to large-sized organizations since they are extremely easy to manage and deploy to remote offices. Meraki MX firewalls are less appropriate for small organizations since the licensing costs tend to get expensive.
