Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Umbrella
We have purchased Cisco Umbrella as a part of SSE package (Cisco Secure Connect product). We wanted to have a centralized firewall, single pane of glass, full next gen firewall capabilities, proxy, IPS and treat protection that Meraki MX appliances could not natively support at scale. We have 150 branch offices arond the world which require secure internet access.
Pros
- DNS protection
- Centralized content filtering
- Centralized policies with possibility to block withing couple of clicks
Cons
- Number of datacenters is very low compared to competitors
- Cloud head ends are limited to 250 or 500mbps throughput
- Multiorg console has just very few items to be configured
- There is still a lot of tweaking to be done, so it is far from being perfect
- Users complain about slowness, performance decreased
- Users no longer browse illegal categories and could be more work focused
- Cisco AnyConnect
Devices not being properly managed by device manager like intune
Price and integration to Meraki MX, plus ability to protect endpoints with roaming module. Umbrella also came with DLP and evolved to Cisco Secure Connect (special offering for Meraki)
