Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Webex Teams (formerly Cisco Spark)

Webex Teams is used for the moment mainly in my department and is getting rolled out to more and more departments. Besides the standard Webex Teams client, we are using also hybrid services like Calendar Connector, Hybrid Messaging for interoperability with Cisco Jabber and Video Mesh nodes inside our data center to optimize the bandwidth usage.
It really helps to make the communication more persistent and flexible compared to other solution. We use it mainly for managing incidents or projects with externals to streamline communication and meetings.
  • Working with any device.
  • Flexibility for Bot Integration.
  • Security with End to End encryption and the possibility for own key management servers.
  • Data privacy.
  • Automatic Client updates via cloud make the software management more complex.
  • Some important features like Threading are not implemented yet.
  • Fewer bots are available than for Slack.
  • Positive: Licenses included in the existing Webex subscription.
  • Negative: implementation of the additional hybrid services.
  • Positive: external workforce can be included in internal discussion much easier and faster through free subscription plans.
Meeting experience and security were strong requirements for our solution which couldn't be addressed by Slack at this time. The possibilities of the on-premises key management servers and the deep integration of Webex were strong arguments for Webex Teams and against Slack. Also for the data privacy questions, Webex Teams had better answers.
Management of Incidents: all participants who work on an incident have access to all information shared in the room. In the handover phase between 2 shifts, the person from the next shift can already read the information provided in the Webex Team spaces which reduce the handover times and people can work more on the problem itself
