Overall Satisfaction with Cision PR Software
Cision PR is used by our organization in three ways. First, we use it to curate lists of media in every DMA throughout the country. Second, we use it to send press release blasts to the media, and third, we use it to track when our clients are being mentioned in the media or social media.
Pros
- Cision PR Software has an extensive list of media contacts, ensuring that we are regularly able to find the media contact we need.
- Cision has an easy to follow process for setting up a media blast.
- Cision does a nice job tracking keywords to find when stories hit online and in print.
Cons
- Culling a list can take a long time. Each time you remove a topic from a list it takes 5-10 seconds to move on. It would nice if you could do a "bunch remove". That would be much faster.
- Cision test emails on media blasts don't get sent for a long time. Should be closer to instant.
- Cision needs to be more aggressive finding the smaller community and online publications in the small markets. There are regularly missing media outlets that are valuable to publicists.
- It's good at staying up to date in the transient world of reporters so our stories find a home and our clients remain happy.
- It helps us find stories that the search engines often miss.
- Its WYSIWYG when creating a distribution is a bit clunky, costing us time to reformat.
I can only compare Cision to other email service providers. Whereas it doesn't offer templates so it isn't good for a newsletter, it is great for press releases because they already house the contact lists. Prior to engaging Cision to do blasts, we had to download the contact lists and reload them to a separate ESP.
