Overall Satisfaction with ConnectWise Control (formerly ScreenConnect)
I use Screenconnect exclusively to replace an aging and problematic Teamviewer implementation. I use this to remotely administer all of our client workstations and servers located in our datacenter across the state. We are expanding into new cities heavily, and Screenconnect (sorry, ConnectWise Control) has been an absolute lifesaver for us. It has saved us countless miles and hours of travel. On top of the remote administration of machines, I am able to easily issue command line...commands and view real-time system information. I have been using it bi-annually to keep our asset inventory up to date, as every machine in our organization automatically has it installed immediately upon joining our domain.
- Remote control is miles better than other solutions.
- I love the online toolbox in our Cloud Hosted environment. It allows me to keep an easy to access repository of commonly installed applications.
- File transfer! Sure, I can easily transfer a file using a VPN or LAN but it's clunky and it simply saves me time, something I don't seem to have much of anymore.
- The plugins/addons are growing and I have a handful installed to make life easier.
- Microsoft Surfaces! When they go to sleep, I can't wake them up like I can in Teamviewer.
- Every machine I connect to ends up with ALL of my printers added to it indefinitely. This has been an ongoing issue for over two years with no resolution yet. I'm not alone, it's documented in the forums.
- It likes a faster connection, switching to grayscale helps, however there are times it just can't handle it. Many of my Surfaces are in the field using LTE connectivity, and while I realize it's dependent on network throughout, it just doesn't seem to hack it as well as Teamviewer. Not a dealbreaker at all.
- Bring back the original cloud licensing!
- The price is VERY competitive! I have been able to save thousands over Teamviewer or any of the other RMM solutions that provide the features I need.
- Negative impact is that now i'm the victim of its success. My users expect instant gratification when I answer the phone in the car, somehow I should be able to be on their machine before they explain their problem.
- I've been able to be so much more productive with multiple screens. I can have all of our servers connected simultaneously to administer.
ConnectWise Control is cheaper, has more features, WAY easier to deploy, and offers many deployment scenarios. Teamviewer is a little quicker on slow connections, however the benefits of ConnectWise outweighs Teamviewer heavily. I have also used what used to be called GFI Max, which used their own version of Teamviewer. I liked it, however they priced themselves out almost immediately. It all comes down to price/features with me, and ConnectWise Control sold me from the beginning.
