Overall Satisfaction with Constant Contact
Currently, our development team (fundraising), HR, and communications & marketing manager are using it. It allows us to reach people in our network to share the work that we're doing to increase donor giving, announce open staff positions, and - more recently - let our network know what we're up to and how we're doing without the intention of fundraising or explicitly asking for donations.
Pros
- Once you've created a template, it's incredibly easy to update it and repeat what you know works well.
- Constant Contact recommends the best time and day to send your email/newsletter/appeal to increase the open and click rates.
- They also allow you to review the real-time data associated with your emails to be able to compare which ones were most effective and interpret why.
Cons
- The inability to copy, paste, and drag text within article and text boxes is a pain point since it's second nature for most when editing text.
- Formatting tools aren't very advanced. They're enough to get by, but they could be better.
- We raise more funds through donations than we do without sending appeals and newletters through Constant Contact.
- We're able to engage a broader range of people beyond our networks when we post job openings because people in our network forward and share the emails with people they know would be interested who are outside of our network.
- We're also able to continue to engage our donors in ways other than asking for money so they can see the impact they have in our work.
In all honesty, my organization has been using Constant Contact ever since I started. It's effective and we haven't found the need to look elsewhere or compare competetive products.
