Overall Satisfaction with Constant Contact
We were a consulting startup and wanted to be active with our outbound strategy both with prospects and customers. We needed a tool to do the simple portions of email marketing -- setup, sending, reporting and database management. With the help of Constant Contact, we are in contact with our customers and prospects on a periodic basis and have generated real leads from the information we supply. In our case, I have been the primary user but it is simple enough for others in the company to use, as well.
- Templated approach to email design
- Delivering emails
- Basic reporting
- Reporting is pretty standard and not very robust
- Database management is pretty basic
- Inbox monitoring is not available
- You can launch email marketing quickly
- It's very inexpensive so you can do it without too much pain
- Our specific approach has gained us many opportunities we would not have had otherwise.
Marketo does all of the same things but at an enterprise level. Marketo is substantially better than Constant Contact but the price tag is very seriously higher ... by a few zeros. The key components of differentiation would be database management and deliverability. I wouldn't say Marketo's editor is any better or worse than Constant Contact.
