Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Our B2B sales teams need leads, and my job is to fill the sales funnel through email marketing and direct mail. I get my leads through the D&B Hoovers database and am able to drill down to the exact decision-maker I need to approach. Being able to not only have phone numbers but verified email addresses available makes my job easier.

Pros and Cons

Able to find target business decision makers
Able to select email addresses only
Sorting businesses through a variety of ways is helpful
Able to select titles "containing" specific words

We should be able to "exclude" words from titles or company names
Able to access titles and email addresses more easily - not look at list first, select find matching contacts button, then go back to sort to add titles contain and email addresses, etc. This is a two-step process to get what I need.

Return on Investment

Defining a market can be hard enough on its own. Having the data from D&B Hoovers is helpful as I can drill down to the exact target I need.
D&B Hoover's screens to fill out are self-explanatory. Little time is needed to get up and running.

Company Data

I find D&B Hoovers most helpful as a prospecting list tool. Selecting nationwide or by state or city or loading a zipcode file for exact areas are most helpful in targeting a specific area. Selecting businesses by SIC is extremely helpful. Having verified email addresses that are updated throughout the year is invaluable. D&B Hoovers helps me to do my job with ease.

Contact Data

Having the ability to select geographically by zip codes is most helpful when targeting a smaller area of the country. But not only that, also having the ability to expand that search to city or state or nationally is very helpful. I also target specific people, so having the ability to add "title contains" is great because I can find the exact person I wish to prospect. Having verified data AND email addresses makes my email marketing efforts successful, and I credit D&B Hoovers for this.

Building target lists are crucial in B2B sales. Having accurate information is extremely helpful. I find D&B Hoovers has the most accurate information out there that is continually updated throughout the year. The selection criteria are most helpful in building lists. I find downloading the information as an Excel file or CSV file easy to upload into my software for email marketing or direct mail lists to printers.
