Overall Satisfaction with DemandTools

DemandTools is used by most of the people in my department. We use it for bulk maintenance of our Salesforce org. My primary use for it is found/report IDs to generate matches for our Sales and Marketing teams, as well as MassEffect for re-assigning and modifying bulk records from our SalesOps divisions. Finally, we utilize MassImpact for our routine maintenance of records (assigning contacts to their account owner and things like that).
  • Modifying records in bulk far more efficient than DataLoader.
  • Providing a robust matching solution.
  • The UI for this software is archaic and provides many with a high barrier to entry.
  • Some of the filtering options that are present here are a little buggy.
  • Significant ROI, especially because it's owned by a technical team.
  • Bulk record modifications are easily handled by us.
Because we had DemandTools when I was hired into this company, we've never looked into any alternatives to DemandTools. Our Senior member may be looking into other options when our contract is up, but we are still about two years away from that. I would imagine that most alternatives to DemandTools would function pretty similarly, though.
If you're very comfortable with a UI from right out of the dot-com boom, then you're in luck! DemandTools are perfect for you! If not, you'll find that it's still a potent tool, even with it being an eyesore. Once you're comfortable with all of the modules, you'll find that it's hard to rival this program with how useful it is. For instance, a member of your sales department leaves, but they had 2000 Accounts. It's easy to use MassImpact to pull all accounts that were owned by this sales rep and then reassign them to another rep without using a spreadsheet!
