Overall Satisfaction with Deputy

We have used Deputy for many different things. Primarily, and most obviously, timesheet scheduling. It also allows our employees to tell us when they will be unavailable for work, as they can enter this themselves, in either unavailability or leave applications. We also store a lot of their hr information in there, including notes and payroll info, and we keep their licenses & tickets in there so we know who is and isn't qualified for a specific type of work while scheduling.

  • Ease of use - the guys can easily clock in and out and adjust time sheets as needed
  • Communication with our accounting package - it integrates seamlessly with Xero and speeds up payroll significantly.
  • If we could store documents against each employee that would be a big help.
  • Payroll accuracy for sure
  • Project labour planning
  • General employee management, organization, & communication.
We have not used another software aside from deputy, timesheets were manually entered. We chose Deputy for the integration possibilities, ease of use, and time-saving capabilities in scheduling and payroll. We knew that overall communication was a point to improve which is what we wanted from our software system.

The system is easy to teach to new employees and they find it simple, logical, and clear in doing what they need to do when entering their timesheets, applying for leave, adjusting existing timesheets, etc. It has been usable on all phone models our employees have and works the same on each so everyone can assist each other and communicate easily.
I was not involved in this process, but from what I know it was a very simple system to set up for the office and then download on each employee's personal phone so they can enter their timesheets. There wasn't any trouble with integrating it with Xero either, as far as I am aware.
We have been able to schedule employees to specific job areas, which they see on their schedule, and help prepare them for their week. This is a feature they are openly happy about. If the work is not shifted work-based I'm not sure Deputy would necessarily be a game-changer, but it is still a great place to enter leave and timesheets that employees can access easily and will integrate well with your payroll system.
