Overall Satisfaction with Deputy

Deputy was already in place when I took over at the veterinary clinic. It is utilized for planning employee vacations and scheduling shifts. I am planning on increasing our utilization of its services in the near future.
  • Recording employee unavailability
  • Tracking open shifts to be filled
  • Ease of building a schedule from scratch
  • I would like to be able to change an employee's schedule for multiple days at a time rather than have to edit each day individually.
  • When an employee leaves, it would be nice to be able to remove them from the schedule for a certain date range rather than having to remove them one day at a time. Alternatively, the program should automatically remove the employee from future shifts when marked as inactive.
  • You should be able to drag and drop an employee assigned to a shift to have employees displayed in a certain order rather than in the order in which the last edit was done.
  • Using Deputy saves time for the practice manager.
  • Using Deputy has helped us improve the accuracy of our scheduling.

Deputy is very user friendly but lacks a few features that would bring it up to a 10 in my book. The ability to easily archive an employee and remove them from the future work schedule, an easier way to print the schedule, and better ability to drag and drop employees to where you want them on the schedule would bring it up to a 10.
I was not involved in the implementation of Deputy so I can not speak to this topic.
Deputy is easy to read and works well for copying shifts to other days or weeks. It also allows you to see at a glance the total hours per week that an employee is scheduled for, which makes it easy to catch mistakes. I really like that my employees can log in and check their schedule right from their phone! There isn't a great way to print the schedule out to post for the employees, so I end up using another app to copy the schedule and print it.
