Overall Satisfaction with Dropbox
I use Dropbox in 3 different ways:
- First, I use it to securely share documents with clients. My clients are comfortable with Dropbox, and there is mutual trust in the security provided by Dropbox.
- Second, I use Dropbox as a safety back up for my computer. Nothing fancy, just a copy.
- Third, I use Dropbox to keep files that I sync across multiple devices with DevonThink. I can pull up a document in a database from my iPhone, my iPad, my MacBook or my iMac because the native document is kept in Dropbox.
- Security.
- Security, as in, if I accidentally delete a file, I can retrieve it from Dropbox (thank goodness).
- Indexing -- files are as easy to find on Dropbox as on my iMac.
- Syncing with my iMac.
- The ability to "star" a folder, making it easier to find and use.
- The website is awkward to use. It is in need of a major upgrade to make it more user-friendly.
- I wish it were easier to link a document between different folders.
- Dropbox is expensive for what you get.
- On the other hand, a folder that was mysteriously deleted from my hard drive was easy to recover using Dropbox.
Apples and oranges. The other products do not function nearly the same as Dropbox.
