Overall Satisfaction with Dropbox
Dropbox is a great cloud storage system that was utilized within my department for sharing files, collaboration, and large file storage. Because many of us have upgraded to MacBooks and to save money have smaller SSDs, as well as with the need for file sharing ramping up, an online storage system like this is very helpful.
Pros
- Cloud based storage with easy access
- Simple and easy to share files with other people
- Easy to customize what files are stored locally or just online
Cons
- Dropbox offers file sharing but lacks in true collaboration in some ways
- From an organizational standpoint, Dropbox is a bit expensive
- Because of the customization available, you need to know the program and the web client interface
- Dropbox provides easy access to a large amount of cloud storage.
- Dropbox files are easily shared between users and eliminates the need for physical data transfer
- The cost per user can be prohibitive to smaller companies.
Dropbox offers a much larger amount of storage for a higher price-point than a simple Google Drive regular user would have. Because of this, if you are transferring large files between many users, Dropbox has an edge over Drive in many respects. If file size isn't a huge determiner in your need for storage, Drive could be a better option.
