Overall Satisfaction with Dropbox
We use Dropbox as a central file server for our team. Because we are small, we don't employ a full-time IT dept so we find Dropbox easy enough to use and secure enough to satisfy our clients' security requirements. It allows us central access to files without worrying about versioning issues, overwrites, etc. We manage shared client visual assets, archived job dockets, and work-in-process dockets through Dropbox.
Pros
- Gated access to files/folders with easy-to-use management of access
- User-level integration (Finder access/ online access)
- Disk space management
Cons
- Pricing is getting higher than in the past
- Integrating with third-party apps
- Customer service - review the current use case and provide recommended actions to enhance the experience of new features and/or provide a way to maximize value by steering users to a plan close to their current use case
- Saved us the cost of a full-time IT dept
- Reduces the time to onboard new team members
We started using Dropbox first and didn't feel the need to change our file management structure once we implemented Microsoft 365 for our email/Teams management.
