Overall Satisfaction with Dropbox
Dropbox has been a great tool to enable departments to share files internally, externally, and particularly with oversea vendors. As an IT professional, we have run in to problems when utilizing competitor services due to firewall/filtering, but do not have that issue with Dropbox. We are a Mac-first organization and the syncing tools have been seamless and users can count that they will have access to the data that they are looking for.
Pros
- User Administration/Management
- File restoration
- Ease of sharing
- Syncing
Cons
- Expansion of subscription-tiers
- Prevention for users syncing all drive data when data > storage space in my experience
- Significant cost related to user count
- Opportunity for more diverse subscription tiers
- Time/money saved utilizing file restoration
- Google Drive, Box and OneDrive
Dropbox offers best-in-class for international file sharing. I generally prefer the user administration/management, and file restoration use-cases in comparison to competitors. Competitors may offer more appealing pricing/subscription models if international functionality is not of concern for the user I believe.
