Overall Satisfaction with Dropbox
the members of our team needs access to shared folders. Sropbox allows us to easily access these shared folders. Dropbox also allows the content of these folders to be only accessible "online," which saves much storage compared to having the documents saved locally on the desktop. without being able to sync our folders with Dropbox, we would not have enough storage on our desktops for all our files. we also appreciate how our files are able to save and sync so quickly. it is very convenient that we are able to connect Dropbox to our file explorer. otherwise, we would have to download files every time we want to access them, and upload them after every change, which would slow us down drastically and create more room for error.
Pros
- sync with file explorer so you do not need to constantly download and upload files
- offer online-only access to save space on the desktop
- saved changes are synced immediately
- offers another way to access old versions of a document for when you accidentally save over one
Cons
- it would be nice if people could work on the same document at the same time, similar to google docs. i do not know if that is possible, but my team has to be very careful about working on the same document at the same time, otherwise one version will be saved as another copy.
- saves a lot of time having Dropbox files available on file explorer
SharePoint does not connect with file explorer like Dropbox does. it is more difficult to work on files in SharePoint as well as you edit them in the browser, rather than through another application. for example: on SharePoint, an excel spreadsheet can only be edited through the browser without downloading it. if you want to edit it using excel, you have to download the file as excel, which creates more work for the user.
