Overall Satisfaction with Dropbox

I use Dropbox to share resources like documents and photos. I create typically read only links to these files. Often I’m doing this to provide one time access to files for the purpose of handoffs, typically for when I place ads or need to deliver files.

Pros

  • Persistent read-only links to files
  • Image sharing with previews
  • File sharing and collaboration

Cons

  • Automatic backups
  • Sharing recipients gain respect for my business based on how I provide resources.
  • Able to increase business efficiently by quickly facilitate file sharing, leading to faster postings for ads that include photos.
I’m able to very easily copy files from my file system into Dropbox without copy delays, even for large files or large numbers of files. I’m able to easily navigate the directory structure and create or remove directories at will with minimal effort. I can be confident that Dropbox will maintain great uptime. It seems to work even if there are Internet interruptions.
I found that Google Drive requires recipients to have accounts. I can’t rely on them having that set up and I don’t want to introduce any barriers to quick access. I really appreciate the ability to control whether access is read only. With that mode I can be confident that, if I choose, nobody can disturb my files.

Do you think Dropbox delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Dropbox's feature set?

Yes

Did Dropbox live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Dropbox go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Dropbox again?

Yes

It’s well-suited for file sharing, especially for read-only scenarios. I’m able to copy sets of files easily into Dropbox and provide someone without an account access to those files. In contrast I’ve seen other file sharing systems require recipients to have their own accounts, creating barriers to quick access. I particularly like being able to choose whether the recipient can edit the files. Also I really like being able to quickly copy files to Dropbox via Windows Explorer copies, having Dropbox integrated into the file system.
