Overall Satisfaction with Dropbox
Our organization uses Dropbox to organize our pipeline's media, such as assets, shot media, scripts, and deliverables, in order to maintain a home base that's central to our group's needs. We utilize it as a remote server, if you will, making sure that our artists have a repository to upload their work so that our leadership is allowed to download and review it at the time of delivery. Lots of link-sharing ensues as a result.
Pros
- File structure organization.
- Folder creation and control.
- Collaboration of links.
- Password protected media.
Cons
- Shareability between other peers so it doesnt use the recipients storage quota.
- It would be great to allow screen draw overs on top of images or movies.
- Integrating with social media for immediate uploads to and from would be great.
- The ability to go back to legacy files and search for them.
- The amount of space it provides is great.
- The ability to continually be a reliable product that shows constant improvement.
Google Drive is not as user-friendly as Dropbox in terms of the shareability of media and its speed and ability to give you certain file details. I also tried to include box.com in the list above, but it didn't find it. Box used to be better than Drobox by a lot, but I think they have dropped a bit when it comes to keeping up with the changing times.
