Overall Satisfaction with Dropbox

I've been using Dropbox for several years now to send high resolution images to clients for my work as a photographer. I've always been satisfied using the complimentary 2GB max to send files for each transaction. Most emails can only send 20MB worth of information and sometimes, a single image is 22MB so I'd need to upload them to my Dropbox account. It's not always convenient but it's free and I feel safe when using Dropbox. Having this helps solve the issue of sending larger files.

Pros

  • Easy upload
  • Simple to copy link and send to clients
  • Safe and secure

Cons

  • If a client has their own Dropbox account (with ample storage space), we should be able to use their account to upload anything since it's their paid account.
  • Go back to allowing 2GB per transfer.
  • It saves me a monthly fee to pay for additional storage if you don't need to send files larger than 2.5GB.
I'm not usually a tech-savvy person so working with technology that is clear and simple to use is always my go to. I also need it user-friendly for my clients who range in capability. Sending a simple link for them to click and download without having to download anything or creating an account is a definite plus which makes Dropbox more user-friendly than other sites.
With WeTransfer, you were allowed to send a file of up to 2GB per email. Their policy has changed to allow 3GB per month. Anything beyond that, you'd have to pay for their service so I unfortunately, will no longer be using that site anymore.

Do you think Dropbox delivers good value for the price?

Not sure

Are you happy with Dropbox's feature set?

Yes

Did Dropbox live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Dropbox go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Dropbox again?

Yes

I have two main sites I use to send files and Dropbox has always been my first option. The interface is user-friendly and the site is simple to navigate. When I need to send files more than 20MB allowed via email, I zip file my work, upload it to Dropbox and send the link to my clients. Once confirmed they have downloaded and saved everything, I delete it off my account and I'm ready to move to the next project. Since I'm a free account user, I'm only allowed 2.5GB so the con is I'd have to have a time limit on how long old files can remain in the account.
