Overall Satisfaction with Dropbox

I primarily use it as a backup and filesharing platform for data, software, Word file versions, etc. I use it separately from my organization-sponsored file-sharing platform (OneDrive). Sharing with collaborators outside of the organization has historically been challenging and Dropbox overcomes that, though recently OneDrive has become easier to use for collaboration purposes.

Pros

  • Seamless integration with local drive
  • Easy download of programs/exe, not just docx, pptx, or similar files
  • File sharing

Cons

  • The biggest issue is that folks who I collaborate with who do not have 2TB subscription very quickly run out of space. I would prefer the free-version of Dropbox be expanded to accommodate them.
  • More seamless integration of file management and versions across the team which improves workflow.
  • Years of use means I am confident in availability of backups.
Very strong and dependable platform but not 10 of 10 in terms of value. $120/year is not great relative to competing cloud platforms (e.g. Google Drive).

Do you think Dropbox delivers good value for the price?

Not sure

Are you happy with Dropbox's feature set?

Yes

Did Dropbox live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Dropbox go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Dropbox again?

Yes

It is not well suited if the amount of data to be shared exceeds >500gb nor is it well suited if files are edited and viewed simultaneously.
