Overall Satisfaction with Dynatrace

We as a consulting and service company, recommend Dynatrace to our customers to address their existing issues related to application monitoring.
  • Dynatrace does quite well in synthetic transaction monitoring and end user monitoring.
  • The DCRUM which does the real user monitoring is a key strength for clients that have some custom and COTS applications which are not written in Java or .Net.
  • Mostly our clients look for end to end application monitoring that ties up with existing infrastructure monitoring tools as well. Dynatrace has good capability in integration with other monitoring tools and ITSM.
  • For SAP and Skype monitoring, it can be improved. I agree any tools cannot provide [more] in-depth monitoring than the proprietary tools but still it can be improved.
  • Log collection and analytics engine can be developed to put as a single stop monitoring solution
  • We made a good impact on ROI for several customers
  • Improved availability and less MTTR for application related issues
  • Had reduced lot of custom monitoring built to detect application monitoring issues
Each of the tools has its own strength and weakness. A few tools like HP fully rely on integration with HP products that do other monitoring. SCOM [does] only their Microsoft products monitoring in depth (.net) not much capability around Java applications. NewRelic is a newcomer in the market when compared to the other three listed above. It has similar capabilities of Dynatrace but is still way behind when compared to Dynatrace. AppDynamics is the real competitor to Dynatrace and where there is a very tough decision we always make to recommend Dynatrace.
It was good when our dyntrace managed team contact for any issues, they were responded within short time and also they work till providing a permanent fix. Also the customization required for the users were brought to their attention and found that they were able to help to some extent to satisfy our customers

It is well suited for companies that only do infrastructure monitoring and are struggling to move to the next level of application monitoring. Also, customers who have less capable APM tools can switch to Dynatrace to have better APM end to end monitoring.
