Overall Satisfaction with Evernote
Evernote is used in our organization for storing technical notes, that would be in real terms in shared notebooks and in each software developer's notebook. At the moment, I am only aware of it being used by the Information Technology Services department and not the entire organization. It initially solved the need for storing troubleshooting information and common resolutions to programming issues in one place. However, we are now moving more towards a wiki for this purpose.
Pros
- Indexing of text and text in images.
- Organization of notes and notebooks, including tags, etc.
- Searching
- Reliable and secure access.
Cons
- Better widespread support for emailing notes to different notebooks for your user.
- Difficult to use with several devices with regard to syncing.
- Syncing can be slow.
- Shared notebooks
- Secure 2fa access
- Reliable storage
- An integral part of information sharing in the department.
- Was free to use for most use cases within the department so saved money.
- Information sharing on troubleshooting helped increase the efficiency of issue resolution and not having to re-learn a solution every time an issue occurs.
I have also used Google Keep; they are both similar products although Google Keep is more web-based and lends itself to being more portable than Evernote. However, when it comes to the richness of features, Evernote certainly wins out and can do a lot more than Google Keep. Evernote's shared notebooks make it a better choice if collaboration is a requirement.
