Overall Satisfaction with G Suite

It was used around the entire organization. It was to provide the cloud document storage, email, and some productivity software. Would also be used for internal and external messaging (e.g. using the "hangouts" function to initiate and participate in conference calls).
  • The email is very simple and easy to use.
  • The cloud storage automatically OCRs all of your documents, makes them very searchable.
  • The email sorting functions are excellent.
  • The photo storage and indexing functions are spectacular.
  • The productivity software leaves something to be desired for very advanced uses like preparing appellate briefs.
  • Sometimes hard to create document structures for contracts in Docs.
  • The Excel analogue, Sheets, feels anemic. I'm not sure why.
  • The integration with desktop email tools, Outlook in particular, was not fluid.
  • Ultimately it was rejected by our office because of psychological misgivings for folks whose email had always been on Exchange.
  • Because we switched off somewhat rapidly, there was no ROI and in fact quite a lot of lost time.
  • It would have had a very positive ROI on many fronts in productivity and integration with our other software, but alas that never came to pass.
I am very confident that G Suite stacks up well except that folks are simply too used to Word, Excel, and more particularly, Outlook and Exchange email. But for those things and the addiction of the older generation to them, we'd still be using G Suite.
It is well suited for anyone under the age of 40. For folks over forty who refuse to learn new tricks and "grew up" on Outlook and Microsoft Exchange, it can be a daunting transition to something simple and very functional.
