Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Google Voice is perfect for small businesses because it allows you to set up your own phone line with a separate phone number that has its own voicemail inbox attached which can be customized online. You can also customize and link your entire Google Voice account to your current GMail email address so that it's all available in one consolidated environment.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Google Voice has been great for setting up additional phone lines and numbers.
The voicemail inbox is a great feature and you can see when messages come in online and listen to the messages from your computer.
Google Voice allows us to have multiple phone numbers and lines for specific business purposes.

Cons

Google Voice could be a bit more sophisticated and dynamic but for the most part it is a solid product through and through.
Google Voice was a bit clunky in the beginning but has been cleaned up quite a bit.

Return on Investment

Google Voice has had neither a positive nor a negative impact on our business, but it has streamlined many processes.

Alternatives Considered

We have not evaluated any other products other than Google Voice and I don't think we would switch from Google Voice because of how useful it has been and the easy customizations that can be made from one single Google Account. I have no complaints with how it has worked for us.

Google Voice is perfect for small businesses who are looking to add additional phone lines / phone numbers for specific accounts and segments of their business. For example, it is great for having different departments utilize their own voicemail inbox with separate lines that can all be accessed from a single Google account.
