Overall Satisfaction with Gusto
At our office we mainly use Gusto for payroll, time tracking and PTO requests. Before using Gusto, we would just use Quickbooks for those three things, but it was never super straightforward and information would often get a bit cluttered. Having the pages very clearly broken up and laid out has really helped keep track of our employees time, not related to billable time.
We also utilize their documents feature, where we can view and sign off on updates to the employee handbook. The most fun feature we use it for is sending birthday wishes to colleagues.

Pros
- PTO Requests
- Time tracking
- Tracking pay and benefits
Cons
- The site often lags/freezes
- Employees can't edit PTO requests after submitting them
- For a while the PTO feature wasn't working...this seems to be fixed but was very frustrating at the time
- I do feel like it's been more efficient way of tracking time
- My boss has said it's saved him a lot of time when running payroll when compared to Quickbooks
Quickbooks is a very simple platform with not a lot of features and it is difficult to organize logged hours between billable, non-billable and PTO. I appreciate how Gusto gives a very simple breakdown of hours worked each day/week and PTO. Gusto is a much more effective way to run payroll and get paid through.
