Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Gusto is used for time card management for both contractors and regular employees. I have used Gusto as both a contractor and regular employee.

Cons

The process of transitioning a worker from contractor to employee is clunky. It would be nice if there were a functionality that allowed the admin to modify the employment type of an individual without having to "terminate the relationship" and then creating a new profile for the same person.

Return on Investment

Positive: easy way to manage all paid workers
Positive: a safe place to store and access employee data
Positive: the onboarding process for new employees is very simple
Negative: Payroll was not properly processed for an employee after they transitioned from contractor to regular employee partway through pay period.

Gusto is very easy to pick up and learn, from both the admin and employee sides. Customer service is very friendly and quick to respond, and employees require very little training when being onboarded to Gusto.

Alternatives Considered

ADP Workforce Now and Workday Payroll and Workforce Management

Gusto is much better suited for smaller businesses and makes employee data management easy.

Gusto is incredibly easy to navigate, when managing time cards / time clocks, when accessing vital employee documents, and when reviewing other employer-provided information, like PTO and benefits.
