Overall Satisfaction with Gusto

I use Gusto in my small business for employee-managed time tracking, running payroll, and both onboarding and offboarding employees. I can do ALL those functions — and more — quickly and easily in their intuitive platform. If I ever need help, Gusto support is always responsive, helpful, and knowledgeable. The value for the price is also excellent.

Cons

  • Better health insurance quotes and integration, including state-level marketplace plans.
  • Option to auto run payroll.
  • Time tracking + payroll calculations me 30-60 minutes every time I run payroll.
  • Integrated workers' comp, so I didn't have to find an outside carrier and get quotes—it's all taken care of in the same platform.
  • Improved employee experience with onboarding.
Gusto's platform is very intuitive and simple to navigate. On the off chance that I need additional help, accessing their team is easy, and they are knowledgeable, responsive, and ensure your issue gets resolved. There's no extra fluff—just what you need, organized in a logical way in an easy-to-understand interface.
It's been a while since I used QuickBooks for payroll, but it doesn't even come close to it. Gusto is infinitely easier, allowing for employee time tracking, handling calculations and payments of payroll and payroll taxes, managing regulatory compliance in the background, and more. I had a lot of moments using QuickBooks Payroll where I thought, "Am I even doing this right?" — it felt like you had to have additional knowledge of HR regulations in your state to do everything correctly. Gusto has it ALL handled so you can focus your time on higher-impact tasks in your business.

Gusto makes it EASY to run the otherwise time-consuming and tedious HR and payroll functions that need to happen in my small business. It surpasses every other platform in terms of ease of use and value. I use a variety of different tech tools and platforms, and I recommend Gusto to every entrepreneur friend of mine because it's that good. I would highly recommend it for small businesses that need these kinds of tasks taken off their plate. It probably doesn't make sense if your organization has a dedicated HR employee.
