Overall Satisfaction with HireVue

We use HireVue across our organization for the majority of our field hires. Many of our field roles are remote and require presentation skills and abilities. HireVue helps gives us a glimpse of how candidates present, both in skill and professionalism.

Pros

  • Provides a customizable first or second step interview/screening, giving us additional input to consider in making a selection.
  • As a screening tool, HireVue saves time by allowing onr stage of screening to be done at the candidate's convenience without the need for scheduling.
  • HireVue provides a user-friendly interface, reducing complexity in a world of multiple systems.

Cons

  • While the interface seems user-friendly, a lot of candidates still struggle with using the tool correctly.
  • Many candidates still find themselves nervous to complete online interviews, reducing completion rate of HireVue invitations.
  • Positive: increased candidate quality in some cases.
  • Positive: increased peace of mind for remote hiring managers.
  • Negative: increased time to fill in some scenarios.
I would have to caution colleagues because hiring managers who don't have proper training or accountability could use HireVue interviews in a way that discriminates against certain people or groups. No more so than in-person interviews, but in industries where interviewing is done remotely, this could be a factor. In other words, I would recommend HireVue in all scenarios, but with a word of caution.
