Overall Satisfaction with ion interactive

ion interactive is used for its landing pages at my organization. Landing pages are primarily built and deployed by our development department, with other departments (including data/analytics, media, and account management) making adjustments on an ad-hoc basis. A/B testing is straightforward, and pages can be set up and launched quickly. As senior data analyst, I have been especially happy with ion because of its exhaustive data collection capabilities and its ability to parse and export said data into a CSV. Especially of note is ion's ability to capture data (interaction, engagements) from users that don't ultimately convert, which gives insight into how to optimize conversions and use of specific landing pages.
  • ion collects data on both converted AND non-converted users of the landing pages. This is great because it allows insight into the customer 'journey'/use for non-converted users, and identify optimization points.
  • ion allows tags to built into landing pages, which let users' experiences be captured in a variety of ways. For instance, if a user clicks a link or opens a lightbox, those events are captured.
  • ion integrates with a number of platforms, including CRM systems and SQL instances. This makes gathering and manipulating data much more straightforward.
  • ion should have lifetime client exports that don't require exporting global respondents/all client data.
  • ion has provided greater insight into campaign performance, allowing us to more efficiently partition paid marketing spend. It has additionally provided data to underpin marketing decisions, gaining client confidence and improving our quantifiable insight into user behavior.
  • ion has guided creative content and A/B testing with its extensive reporting capabilities. This provides objective information and guidance on campaign and LP deployment.
I was not involved in the decision to adopt ion at my current agency. However, clients occasionally use other landing page tools and we have overall found ion to be the best choice in its class: its reporting, design capabilities, ease of deployment, and integration suite makes it a solid choice to serve a variety of clients. Especially with the number of integrations available, ion has made working with other platforms - Salesforce, Marketo, etc - straightforward and easy to troubleshoot.
ion is well suited for producing multiple landing pages. It offers powerful tracking capabilities and - as a result - insight into user behavior, conversion/engagement, and how different campaigns may perform. A/B testing is straightforward and readily deployed. Pages can be built quickly and customized to client and vendor specifications.

It is not well-suited for one-off or single-use landing pages. Its built-in data gathering and reporting capabilities are powerful and an asset to the platform.

  • Building landing pages: can readily build and deploy landing pages that adhere to best-practices
  • Optimize easily: A/B testing (control/experiment testing) is straightforward
  • Tagging events during user experience: can tag lightbox opens, clicks, handoffs, gated content, etc to gain a more
  • Lifetime reporting can't be done by client / landing page, but instead a 'global' export has to be done - and then filtered
  • Changelog / version control would be helpful to understand when / where change milestones were made to different landing pages
